No. When you register for WELL Certification, your fees will include the WELL Health-Safety Rating, provided that documentation for both WELL Certification and the WELL Health-Safety Rating are submitted simultaneously.

Yes! The WELL Health-Safety Rating can be pursued for multiple locations under the same owner, benefitting from efficiencies and streamlined, consolidated documentation submission and review.

Because the WELL Health-Safety Rating is a designation that may be achieved as part of the WELL Portfolio Program, organizations may elect to pursue WELL Health-Safety Rating as part of a defined portfolio or they have the flexibility to pursue the WELL Health-Safety Rating for multiple locations separate from WELL Portfolio.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating addresses a range of acute health threats through facilities operations and management strategies, in order to help organizations meet immediate COVID-19 needs and to prioritize long-term health and safety of staff, visitors and stakeholders. The WELL Health-Safety Rating requires that projects achieve 15 of its evidence-based features by pursuing a combination of those included in the rating, which may include as many as three Innovation submissions. None of the features are mandatory. The WELL Health-Safety Rating presents a diverse set of evidence-based criteria within the following areas that can be customized based on facility type and adapted to an organization’s needs: Cleaning and Sanitization Procedures, Emergency Preparedness Programs, Health Service Resources, Air and Water Quality Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication, and Innovation.

The strategies within the WELL Health-Safety Rating have been informed by existing features within the WELL Building Standard, IWBI’s Task Force on COVID-19 and guidance by the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), global disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, as well as recognized standard-making bodies such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions. Industry experts and researchers across the WELL Concept Advisories, the WELL Research Advisory, the WELL Advisory for Sports and Entertainment Venues, the WELL Advisory for Hotels and Resorts and the WELL Airport Advisory also provided extensive insights for the WELL Health-Safety Rating. The features within the WELL Health-Safety Rating are a subset of those available through the WELL Building Standard v2, which has been approved by the IWBI Governance Council.
